There's certainly a lot to love about agapanthus. They're generous and easy-going plants coping with drought, light frosts, poor soil, salt winds and neglect.

Agapanthus is a perennial herb from southern Africa, widely cultivated around the world for its showy flowers.  In some countries florists use them extensively as a cut flower.

This guide covers agapanthus bred in Queensland Australia.  The agapanthus covered in this website are all evergreen as opposed to deciduous and semi deciduous types that are grown in colder climates where the foliage either turns yellow or completely dies back over winter.   Evergreen agapanthus can be grown in most area of Australia that are not subject to heavy frosts.
