It’s also important to remember that Agapanthus is considered poisonous. Symptoms may include nausea vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea if ingested, with severe ulceration of the mouth from the clear sticky sap. Toxicity category: 2, 3


Seek medical attention for all ingestions.


Please take care, especially with children and:

  •  Wear gloves when handling agapanthus, as some people experience allergic reactions when handling the plants;
  • Recognise that all parts of agapanthus plants are harmful if ingested.
