Selecting Agapanthus

As a rule of thumb smaller flowering varieties flower first, from early spring and the larger varieties flower from early summer but environmental factors do differ from State to State and so then does flowering times. Some will re-flower/spot flower when environmental conditions suit, for example, extended heat beyond summer or significant climatic fluctuations.

Flower colours are influenced by the intensity and duration of sunlight. Higher levels of sunlight fire up the anthocyanins more resulting in stronger and darker colours to those flowering in the shade or in cooler climates where light intensity may not be as strong.
